This easy Southern Baked Spaghetti casserole is perfect for a family dinner. This baked spaghetti has a creamy cheese layer.

Ingredients
1lbspaghetti
1tablespoonolive oil
1yellow onion
1lbground beef
2jars (24 oz each)marinara or pasta sauce
1tablespoonItalian seasoning
Cheese Mixture
1cupricotta cheese
1egg
½cupshredded parmesan
1cupshredded mozzarella
Topping
1cupshredded mozzarella
Instructions
Cook the spaghetti
Cook the spaghetti noodles according to the package directions. Drain and set aside.
Prepare the sauce
Heat the olive oil over medium heat in a large skillet. Sauté the onion until translucent, about 3 minutes.
Add the ground beef. Brown the ground beef until it is fully cook and no pink is visible. Drain any grease from the meat. Return the meat to the stove and turn the heat to low.
Stir in the sauce and the Italian seasoning.
Add the cooked spaghetti to the ground beef and sauce mixture and stir until the noodles are coated with sauce.
Prepare cheese filling
In a separate bowl, add the ricotta cheese, egg, Italian seasoning, shredded parmesan cheese, and 1 cup of the mozzarella cheese. Stir together until well mixed.
Assemble the casserole
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
Coat a 9×13 casserole dish with non-stick spray. Place half of the spaghetti noodles and sauce in the bottom of the dish. Next, add all of the cheese mixture and spread it out over the spaghetti noodles. Add the remaining spaghetti to the top of the casserole.
Top with the remaining 1 cup of mozzarella cheese. Baked uncovered at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 30-40 minutes. If the cheese on top begins to brown, cover with aluminum foil until the Souther baked spaghetti is heated through.
Notes
The spaghetti noodles will continue to cook while baking so it is important to not overcook the spaghetti noodles when boiling them.
