Aldi not only sells food... it also sells face cream! You can snag several beauty products from Aldi like face cream that are affordable knock-offs of name brand beauty items. My favorite Aldi face cream is Lacura Face Care H2O Advance Aqua Gel.
The Lacura H20 face cream has been a game-changer for my dry face. I typically always struggle with dry skin. The winter leaves my skin even more dried out and slightly flaky. After I started using the H20 Advance Aqua Gel cream, I've noticed a significant decrease in the dryness of my skin.
This type of Lacura face cream says it is suitable for all skin types and "provides a smooth and fresh skin feeling."
Price
Another reason I love Lacura Face Care H2O Advance Aqua Gel is how affordable the face cream is at Aldi. As of January 2024, a 1.7 ounce container is about $4.09 on Instacart. The face cream price may be even slightly cheaper in store.
I personally can't stomach spending mounds of cash on face creams that may or may not work. Aldi makes it easy to take care of your skin without breaking the bank. The price point makes it easy to see if the face cream will meet your skincare needs. Lacura Face Care H2O Advance Aqua Gel is an inexpensive dupe of Neutrogena Hydro Boost.
Ingredients
The face cream does contain hyaluronic acid, which helps your skin retain moisture. It also contains the following ingredients:
water, dimethicone, glycerin, panthenol, phenoxyethanol, dimethicone/vinyl dimethicone crosspolymer, cetearyl olivate, oleth-10, polyacrylamide, sorbitan olivate, fragrance, sodium hyaluronate, carbomer, c13-14 isoparaffin, silica, laureth-7, caprylyl glycol, decylene glycol, sodium hydroxide, butylene glycol, isoceteth-10, geraniol, benzyl alcohol, citric acid, tocopherol, blue 1
Where to Buy
You can find Lacura Face Care H2O Advance Aqua Gel in almost any Aldi store in the United States. It is typically located in the aisle with the other personal care items like toothbrushes, soap, and vitamins.
If you don't live near an Aldi, you can also snag a container from Amazon. However, the price is significantly inflated (around $9.99 at the time of publication).
Packaging
H20 Advanced Aqua Gel by Lacura comes in a small glass container with a white screw on lid and teal blue labeling. This Aldi face cream is a Neutrogena Hydro Boost dupe so the packaging and container look very similar to each other. Neutrogena's packaging is a truer blue color while Lacura's packaging swings more toward teal. The main ingredients are very similar, but Aldi's version is one-fifth of the price of Neutrogena!
Scent
The face cream is scented. I actually really like the scent, but I do know there are mixed reviews about it. Many people prefer to use unscented creams for a variety of reasons. I don't mind the scent. It smells fresh and clean and doesn't give off an "old-lady" type of fragrance that some perfumes and lotions have. It resembles more of a "clean laundry" type of smell.
Texture
The texture of the Lacura H20 face cream is light and silky. If you tilt the bottle of the cream to one side, it is fluid enough to start to move down the side of the jar.
Around the Web
I read reviews from several Aldi Facebook groups and follow the Aldi sub/Reddit forum. It's always hard to get a statistically accurate snapshot of reviews. Below are a few pros and cons of the Lacura Face Care H2O Advance Aqua Gel I've seen around the web:
Pros
- Affordable price compared to other name brand skin care lines
- Dries quickly and isn't sticky
- Nice scent
- Favorite of Aldi face creams
- Great quality
- Does not cause breakouts
- Lacura is held to EU standards, which are higher than USA
- Feels like Clinique Moisturizing Gel or Neutrogena Hydro Boost
Cons
- Scent is too strong
- Face can break out or cause a rash
- Ingredient list is not "clean"
My Honest Review
I personally own the three face creams that are available at my local Aldi store. These face creams include:
- Lacura Face Care H20 Advance Aqua Gel
- Lacura Face Care Day Cream
- Lacura Face Care Night Cream.
If I had to choose just one of Aldi's face creams to buy, I would choose Lacura Face Care H20 Advance Aqua Gel.
I use the H20 Advance Aqua Gel face cream every day - and sometimes twice a day! I apply it in the morning before I put on my makeup. It is light enough for me that it doesn't make my skin feel too greasy or oily. My skin leans dry so if you have oily skin to start with you may have a different result. I prefer the H20 Advance over the Lacura Day Cream (which tends to be heavier and more greasy). It's a perfect lightweight face cream for summer too - just make sure to also apply SPF.
I do apply Aldi's Lacura Face Care Night Cream before bed since it is a thicker and creamier face cream. I've also heard that people like to apply the H20 Advance cream first and then apply the Lacura Night Cream on top before bed for some extra skin care help. However, the H20 Advance Aqua Gel face cream is versatile enough that it could function as both a day and night cream.
My recommendation is to grab a container from Aldi the next time you have a chance. For a small investment of only $4.00, you don't have much to lose if you decide you don't like it or if you find something you like better!
Have you tried Lacura Face Care H2O Advance Aqua Gel or any of Aldi's face creams? What did you think?
Note: I do not work for Aldi and I'm not affiliated with the store. This is my honest review of the Lacura face cream product.
